I was just informing an acquaintence that emailed me a question about where that falls in her chart that Jan Spiller's book "New Moon Astrology" has some suggestions for utilizing the energy of this Saturnian power day.

It would be most beneficial for everyone to have this resource in their reference materials, but I will give a snippet from the book as to what to wish for when the new moon is in Capricorn:

Future security
Handling responsibility
Reaching goals
Success/recognition
Management skills
Authority figures
Releasing contolling tendencies.

Capricorn rules Future needs, including: time, making sensible decisions, maturity, retirement, and old age.

Capricorn rules Responsibility, including: self-discipline, adult behavior, keeping commitments, competency, and public image.

Capricorn rules goals, including: ambition, defining goals, using oppotunities, professions, and hard work.

Capricorn rules success, inlcuding: accomplishments, recognition, social status, and achieving goals.

Capricorn rules management, including: following protocol, delegting responsibility, being in charge, and respect.

Capricorn rules authority, including: fathers, bosses and other authority figures, tradition, and reputation.

Capricorn also rules excessive control, including: lack of joy, sternness, fear of new approaches, pessimism, inflexibility, and self-justification.

In matters of restoring health, Capricorn rules: bones and joints, arthritis and rheumatism, gall bladders and gallstones, knees, skin, psoriasis and itching.

Each of these sections that Capricorn rules have many sample wishes for each to potentially manifest through the intentions with the energy of the New Moon. The new Moons confer power through a fresh start and the coming together of two luminaries that dominate our identity and feelings. Nothing is as potent for aligning with the purpose of our Being as a New Moon.

The Planets are inside of us. Just as the Tree of Life is inside of us, and God is within; the whole Universe is there too.

The Planets impel us from within. As we can see and track them from the outside, by looking at the cosmic sky, the forces for change and growth come from the thoughts, impulses, and triggers that emanate from inside of us.

As Mercury conjuncts my Ascendant, natally, it is perfectly appropriate for me to tell my stories – as they relate to the many individuals that make up the collective.

I am not telling of my transits to gain attention, or deeper insight, though that's not a bad idea. I enumerate them to have readers look to their own charts for their stories that each of the planets residing inside of them are spurring them on to act out.

Right now, the transit I was anticipating for years has hit me full-fledge. Neptune is conjunct my natal Sun, which also makes angular hits to my Moon, Venus/Mars, and Jupiter. One big condition of this transit is that it has me wanting to be in a meditative state for a large portion of the day; to escape from the ordinary into a pleasant daydreamy haze.

Neptune is my chart ruler because of my Pisces Ascendant which it trines, natally. I have a 12th house Sun. Neptune naturally rules the 12th house. So, with all that Neptune in me, and now with it on top of my Sun, my day floats away before I know it.

New Moon in Aquarius - Solar Eclipse

I have been attending bi-monthly astrology meetings that started up a couple of months ago in New Orleans. Yesterday's topic was about the eclipse and I did some automatic writing to see what would come out. I shared it with the group and just had the idea to put it out here... this is what came forth.

Aquarian energy is indescribable, though others keep trying to put a box around it's definition. You should know that as soon as there is anything predictable about it, it slips out of your conscious reach and becomes something else. It's shock value is purposeful. If you limit infinity, you come up with a structure that contains some and holds out others. We are seeking a more inclusive society, and if you want to make that a box too, it can happen.

The eclipse was just another event in a series of cosmic events that will bring about an awakening. You can say it's about hopes, drems, wishes, goals, for group unity without uniformity. Group consciousness.

With Neputne travelling in Aquarius, dreams and waking life are interchangeable.

Don't we all harbor hopes of a brother-hood of man where we asist and enable each other to fulfill a life purpose that automatically causes one to have personal happiness and good health? It is a possibility and not just some far off ideal.

We are realizing it NOW.

Sin and degradation is just a by-product of the negative polarity's sway on consciousness. Are you immune from it? No. Dumbing down is exactly what was necessary as the time to advance neared. It is no longer appropriate to get mass herds of people to do grub work. Now the important work is to be done; cleaning up the Earth and the inhabitants that have fallen under the dream of negativy - wars, fear-like religions and relations.

Why this eclipse was something to talk about was because of how close the GURU, Jupiter, was with it. Such expansions in beliefs became possible for those who shut out the ideals of peace and harmony in the land. You know how some love spreading negativity like bad news and gossipy superiority of the "other" of a different belief system.

So, I guess what it boils down to is... be true to yourself. The individual soul is of utmost importance to the collective at this time. We need YOU to fulfill your hopes, dreams, and wishes. You owe it to the group to be who and how you are.

Gemini's looking for data

When I check my stat counter for my blogs to see if anyone is visiting and where they come from, I have an inordinate amount of visitors that are looking for "Gemini Today". It was 107 to 4. The other keywords that were searched for were my name or some variation on the zodiac.

Gemini's deserve some more information for their insatiable curiosity. I am not sure what you are looking for, Gemini, but I'll put something on the table. Eat up.

Gemini energy was hit hard in the past 16 years as Pluto was in the opposite sign of Sagittarius. Pluto - read below and elsewhere - is transformative energy, bringing change whether you liked it or not.

Oppositions denote that the changes were brought on by circumstances or other people; seeming like it wasn't YOU that wanted it, but were forced into it. A move, a job change, a relationship breakup, a death of someone close to you, are all changes that cannot be helped, but ones that might have been necessary for your positive growth.

Now, Uranus in the sign of Pisces is challenging to Gemini as a square. Squares are conflicts that bring about creative change. They're irritating. Pisces is a water sign. Gemini is air. Put simply, water is the world of feelings and the element of air is about thinking.

The Sun Sign is one's identity. Let's review some of Gemini's traits:
Quality: Mutable
Element: Air
Principle: Active
Ruler: Mercury
Anatomy: Lungs, collar bone, hands, arms, shoulders, nervous system
Key Phrase: I think
Keyword: Versatility
Natural sign of the Third House

Positive characteristics: Dual, congenial, curious, adaptable, expressive, quick-witted, literary, dextrous, clever.

Negative characteristics: Changeable, ungrateful, scatterbrained, restless, scheming, lacking in concentration, lacking in follow-through.

I have been married to a Gemini man for 19 years. I have 3 Gemini nieces, one of which is best friends with my teenage daughter, so we see a lot of her. I am familiar with the Gemini qualities, though not all Gemini's are the same, of course.

Ever since someone told me that Gemini's copy others, I have chalked that reason up to why my niece often has to wear the same outfit as my daughter, has to see how my girl's hair is cut so she can get hers cut the same way, and generally wants to do everything my daughter is doing. My girl never minds and easily shares friends and clothes, and anything else. She is almost two years older and appreciates her cousin's affection for her.

My husband is not a typical Gemini. Not with me, anyway. He's not talkative. I attribute that to his natal Mercury opposite Saturn. Mercury is Gemini's ruler, and in all of our charts - Mercury is the sign that rules communication. Saturn inhibits his expressiveness; otherwise, Gemini's are usually quite articulate.

As an air sign, Gemini is in the first quadrant of the chart as a relationship planet. The gift of gab is assigned to it so that they can connect people and ideas. Mercury and Gemini go hand-in-hand for getting that job done.

Hang in there with that Uranus square, Gemini. Manifesting ideas has to be done with feelings. When we focus upon something, using our emotions, we act as superconductors for bringing spirit into matter. Uranus is liberating energy and who better to go with the flow than Gemini.

If you have any questions about how to negotiate the challenges, you know how to reach me. I am Jupiter's Girl.

Pluto squares and oppositions

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2fDreU0sM1Y/SOowKVAHu4I/AAAAAAAAAzw/---d4jkOwGU/s400/Symbolpluto.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5254064869275581314" />
Pluto is finishing up transforming the identities of people born within the last degree of Virgo, Gemini, Pisces, and Sagittarius (all the mutable signs), and is already agitating those born under the cardinal signs. That means people born at the beginning of those signs, roughly around March 21-23, June 21-3, and Sept 22-24, will experience this transformative energy.

Pluto is an inexorable force, wrote Rob Hand in his "Planets in Transit".

Force is the keyword here. It is regenerative, ultimately. The destruction comes before rebuilding, and therefore it is feared and resisted.

My practice is stepping up with those seeking "how to" surrender to these forceful changes taking place in their life. It is all coinciding with big changes happening in the universe, the world, the country, and in their communities. It is personal to them - and therefore, happening in their homes.

We sit and talk, I hear the words that tell of their wounds that need healing. Pluto has that in spades - healing. Up and out. Pluto is a digger - named of the
God of the underworld. He sees the worst that life can be.

My advice is the usual "surrender to what is". It is not advice to be apathetic. It is absolutely the first step to what can be done to alleviate the suffering the mind puts us through. No guilt, no should haves or should have nots, no worrying about what will be in the future.

Surrendering to what is - it's a very active and aggressive part in the rebuilding process. When you relegate the ego-speak, or mind-talk, to the back of the head, you can hear what your soul has to say.

The soul speaks in impulses and feelings. Listening to it takes faith that all is in divine order. Nothing worth saving will pass out of existence. Let go. Even if you have no faith in divine order of things, let go. Surrender. Pluto will have it no other way, believe it or not.

Things Sagittarian

I have several Sagittarian friends. Being that I am Jupiter's Girl, I am attracted to others that are ruled by Him.

What I love about Sagittarians are their flexibility. They generally go with the flow, rise above problems, and have a funny view of life and the living of it. I always enjoy myself, and stress less, when I am in their orbit.

My bf, Cathy, is actually a Virgo. (I love Virgo energy too, but that's another subject.) Cathy has Sadge rising, with Moon and Saturn conjuncting it very tightly. Because her Virgo Sun squares all of that, and so does her Mercury/Venus conjunction in Virgo, she has had innumerable conflicts in her life. Each time I think a particular crisis is going to be the One to do her in, she manages to come out on top. Jupiter endows her with an enormous optimism that pulls her out of the deep, dark hole she sometimes falls into.

I call my friend Cathy. Her family also calls her 'Cathy'. We have been friends for 30 years now. Other aquaintances may know her as C.W., or Catherine, depending on what part of her soul journey they may have met her in. C.W. is her bartending moniker; Catherine is an artist. She has had several different last names too, as she's been married twice and then took on her mother's maiden name. So, now, my family knows her as the name I call her to differentiate her from other Kathy's; Cathy Williams Stajdel Luminais Reynolds Luminais. I don't know how to fit in the Catherine and C.W. she's become in all of the places she's lived.

My other Sadge friend who visited me yesterday, I know as Diane. Her academic friends know her as Pamela. Her family calls her Pam. She has at least 3 different last names she uses too. She was engaged once, and prematurely started using her married name for making reservations. She never stopped that habit.

My best friend in high school, a Sagittarian that I am still in touch with, is known by a couple of names too, depending on how long one has known her.

Then, there's my web-designer. I still don't know what he's called. He's a Sagittarian also, yet one can just feel his Scorpion energy shining through in the way that he is private about what to call him. He has three names and at least two nicknames. He's given me permission to call him what I want to, but it's a weirdness that I think is particularly assigned to being Sagittarian.

A rose would still be a rose by any other name. Sagittarians need the freedom and flexibility to be called whatever persona they're displaying to the world at any given time, and in any given place. And that's another thing, they move around a lot.

Why visit with an astrologer?

All astrologers are unique; have different methodologies, different insights, preferences, and abilities.

I am a humanist astrologer, finding what's beautiful and good in everyone, applying self-knowledge to relationship harmonization. When you know yourself, embracing all and focusing on your purpose, the connections with others' will naturally smooth out, enabling one to be well-adjusted in their community and immediate environments.

I use natal charts, primarily. I progress it to the present moment, and then check to see which planets are exerting influence in the client's life.

How that can be helpful, and worth the $75 I charge, is to bring about a peace of mind that all is in divine order. If you have that sensation that all is well, then it follows that all IS well and whatever that means comes to pass.

I have done trades for readings. Often times, clients who are having difficulties with planetary energies, if they are bucking the system (so to speak), will also have cash flow issues. It isn't about the money with me. I have done exchanges, and also much pro bono work, which carries it's own exchange as I get smarter and more experience with each case.

Still, the feedback I have received about my counseling sessions is what I am trying to articulate here. Why would anyone visit an astrologer? Maybe you are too close to a situation. I have the gift of gab, compassion for others, and an intuitive feel for all situations that is accurate in assessing what is going on and provides me with the words to use for smoothing over discord.

It is a gift from the heavens, my interest and abilities to interpret charts and apply astrology for navigating one's path in life. I am in service on Earth, this much I know, and have made some mistakes in previous lives with lording over others with my intuitive and healing arts. This time around, as an astrologer, I only use it to empower others to finding their inner guru.

I put a price on a session with me, but really, accessing higher powers and finding inner peace and the joy of Being, is a priceless experience.

Saturn's rule

Things Saturnian: Business and places of business, public buildings, foundations, one's profession, career, vocation, employment, bankruptcy, debts and debtors, foreclosures, one's father, elders, enduring friendships, engineers, architects and architecture, buidling and building materials, landlords, land and property, monks and monasteries, retirement, elders. Body parts: Bones and teeth.

Jazz Fest 2006, my Capricorn friend, with Mercury and Mars in Capricorn also, and I were hooking up to do the festival together. I told her I was going to find a parking spot on the street. She was parking in a lot for $25. She fussed at me with all of her Saturn, "you're going to get towed. They're towing and ticketing like crazy. I saw it on the news."

I do not watch the news and even if I had $25 for parking, it's the point with me. If there are free spots, I'd rather spend my money on something else besides parking.

An astrologer friend reminded me that those born with lots of Saturn in their chart would probably get ticketed and towed. They MUST do things correctly, with integrity, not hurting anybody or anything, or else suffer severe consequences. Knowing right from wrong is their main claim to fame. They know it from experience.

Everything worked out fine with my parking situation then. I know what signs to look for and when it is not cool to park on the street. If I have to pay - like I did for Mardi Gras - then no big deal, I have the $$ for it.

When Pluto changed signs to Capricorn on the 25th, coming home from work that night, on the longest bridge in the world, I was going 73 in a 65 mph zone. I got a ticket. I faced Saturn with my guilt. And then I realized how scary this is for some that Pluto will be in Capricorn (after Dec 08) for approximately 16 years. We will all have to be mindful and righteous, or else.

I hate to spend my hard-earned money on a speeding ticket. Nobody got hurt, nor would they have. I had complete control of my vehicle and there was no traffic on the bridge. I have learned not to argue with Saturn. It is not reasonable energy. The fact is, I went out of bounds, and Saturn's job is to pull me back in. Good or bad is besides the point.

And if you were still wondering...

What to do with all that Capricorn energy that's exerting influence on us individually and collectively? Look to Dave Hall for inspiration. Any one of those blogs could effectively give you the impressions that are working their way out of the fabric of creation.

Dave is the most productive man I know. He is tenaciously working to unite points of light on the planet and get cohesive activity in causes that will uplift many who barely survive.

What I like most about his ideas, or the top one, is to raise up the natural born leaders within the groups that are down on their luck wholesale. It's the old "teach a man to fish..." theory that empowers others to hold their own as equals in our global community.

I speak of the brotherhood of man often. I am an Aquarian, and I have 3 Capricorn planets in my 11th house - Aquarius ruled - which is about hopes, goals, wishes, groups, friendships, and more along those lines.

I am idealistic in my vision of a futuristic society, just not as aware of how to practice what I preach. Therefore, I turn to Dave Hall. And others like him who have ideas that are practical and worthy of our implementation.

Dave is a force of One, but a mighty force he is. He writes prolifically of what it will take to have solvency in the poorer regions.

He once asked me to be his publicist. I had to look up what that word means. I shrug about the title. It isn't necessary to call me publicist for me to promote his good works.

Find out where your Mercury is placed.

Thinking is at the fundamental level of creation. It is the basis of all outgrowth, or expression of the Self, which is built upon by ideas, thoughts, programming and conditioning. Very few activities, gestures, written or spoken words can be produced without thoughts. Even while asleep, thoughts and images enter our minds unbidden.

I heard a statement today that was spoken by a very loving gentleman. He told a friend, his brother, that there's going to be a race showdown between the blacks and whites and that he'd either better move, or get himself a shotgun and some ammo. I pooh-poohed it telling my friend that that rumor has been alive and kicking for 20 or more years. I have never believed it.

The society we live in is a direct reflection of how we think. Why does anyone want wars? It is an old desire that is ruminating in the collective about seeing a showdown between the good and evil forces. Everyone expects good to triumph.

I think the future is a malleable proposition.

I wrote, "I think" that. If everyone is on the same page, and a war between two races of people - who really have no bone to pick with one another and CAN live cooperatively - is predicted, the desire for that outcome is strong enough to bring it about.

So, let's say we desire something completely different this time. We seem to be on the verge of a major breakthrough in understanding that reSources are not as limited as powers that control them would have us believe.

Thinking is a very constructive activity, Saturnian. With Pluto and Jupiter together in Capricorn, and an election looming that calls forth all the shenanigans the negative polarity can pull to ensure their hold on power, we are becoming more aware and thoughtful citizens and see through the bullshit.

What are we going to do about it? Ignore powers that be?

Dennis Kucinich is the example I am speaking of. I am so not political, but my gut tells me that effective leadership that is for the people and by the people - liberty and justice for all is squelched by unseen forces, which are actually quite brazen and not that hidden.

What I advise is that everyone knows how they think, what they think about and how they express themSelves. Your Mercury placement by sign, house, and what aspects it makes to other planets in your chart tells me a lot about what's going on in your Mind. How does it operate? What mode is it - cardinal, fixed, mutable? And what element is it in - fire/air/water/earth? All of this Matters to matter and the life matter supports.

Since it is the Mind that is the fertile womb of creation, it is wise to understand how you think so you can channel your creative spirit very productively. Affirm your individuality with self-awareness. Information is light. Light is empowering. It all gets filtered through the Mind before becoming reality.

Pluto's running with Saturn now

Pluto’s ingress into Capricorn, January 27, 2008, has many sensitive and perceptive light-workers making predictions about what is to come. Most of them express that when Pluto makes it's final change into Capricorn in December, for the next 16 years we will collectively experience a transformation of our societal structures and broad, sweeping changes in what makes us a community of souls.

Saturn and Pluto can provoke much fear. It is true that Saturn represents lack and limitations in it's negative polarity. It can restrict and inhibit growth, is responsible for breaks internally, as in bones and teeth, and externally, growth of a business, building, relationship, or anything of a structural nature. It is not malevolent energy at all, but there are some who would exploit it - not realizing that they are only suppressing or oppressing their own spirit as well.

One analogy that brought that home to me, a man named Sid presented the visual of a body which had it's hands at it's neck, strangling. That's not word-for-word what he wrote, but close enough to provide understanding of what it is to fight with one another and to try to destroy each other's cultures, or take resources from, or pollute or otherwise deny life to anyone on the face of the planet, and beyond.

Pluto’s function in the zodiac is destruction and rebuilding, death and rebirth. That transformational energy is working within Capricorn’s constellation, which rules our collective structure and integrity as a society, on the whole.

Since the Lord of Karma (Saturn) is involved here, death and rebirth is mixed up with reaping what one sows. It will be easier to see that every action we take now will have consequences far into the future, affecting all generations yet to come.

Many of us already experience instant karma more often - where we manifest almost immediately, what we are desiring; consciously or not. The difference being - when you consciously create your reality, you mind what’s in your mind more carefully, feeding it with only those thoughts which naturally benefit the whole.

With Saturn in on the transformation, the changes will be done right, with structures and foundations that are set in reality, and also with a more unified and universal consciousness. Because Capricorn is the cardinal Earth sign contained in the quadrant that constitutes our collective experience of life and living, a brotherhood of man atmosphere will prevail.

The meaning of the word ‘collective’ has to be the significant point of our transformation. This time seems to be best for bringing about awareness that it takes each individual within the village - to create the village. Not any one sign of the zodiac should be in charge of the rebuilding. The whole is a sum of it's parts.

For the astrology student, and teachers too, I highly recommend Steven Forrest's "THE BOOK OF PLUTO - Turning Dakness To Wisdom With Astrology". He is most articulate and humane in his writing of a subject that I tend to lighten up and idealize. I understand all too well that we manifest what is in our mind. Ignoring the darker nuances in our psyche' do not make them go away. Mr. Forrest not only looks at those darker forces, but he knows how to bring them into the light.

Jupiter's running with Saturn

Jupiter, the lord of growth, expansion, and largess is in cahoots with Saturn - the builder of structures - ethereal ones and finite ones - for the whole of 2008.

There is magnificent potential for building a society of individuals with cooperative efforts, and appreciation for one another's role in the act of creating such a culture, while Jupiter is in the sign of Capricorn.

From my perspective and programming, I have come to some conclusions which are based in the belief that the Mind, as a manifester, finds whatever information it needs to create the outcome it believes will, or should, be. That information could come in from what you read, or whom you talk to, or what you watch on tv, or in a movie. I think you will constantly come upon the proof you need to back up any argument for why your beliefs are THE ones to hold true.

You manifest what is in your Mind - like a projector directs images onto a screen. I subscribe to the belief that it is hard to be mindful of what's going on in your Mind if you are also in drama and chaos of trying to feed it with more of what it's programmed to manifest and feed on. Round and round it goes - unless you put some space around those thoughts.

If your experiences are less than blissful, or what I mean is, if your experiences are predominantly crappy and lead to lowered vibrations, detach your attention of the negatives and plug the thoughts into more life-giving sources. Go outside. Find some water to sit by, or a tree, or potted plant even, and soak up some energy. Leave those troublesome thoughts with Sources that can transmute them into awareness of your role in the Whole scheme of Life. That's empowerment.

I think Jupiter's transit in Capricorn is going to help us, on the whole, become more conscious of the fact that we are together in this process of creation and depend on each other to keep it in line with a system, legal(Jupiter) and ethical(Saturn) which benefits all.

Saturn's energy is constrictive with purpose, while Jupiter is in charge of growing. Jupiter will be in Capricorn for pretty much all of 2008. Growth with conscience is our greatest potential for this placement.

The Capricorn New Moon

I have an invaluable book in my collection; Jan Spiller's "New Moon Astrology." The subtitle, or subject, of the book is "Using the New Moon Power Days to Change Your Life."

There's a new moon each month, known by when the Moon exactly conjuncts the Sun. In the "New Moon Astrology," Ms. Spiller gives clarity on the nature of each of the signs and how best to utilize and invoke the energy of the new moon with our written intentions, which should harmonize with the zodiac sign that it's in and what it is good for.

I often speak or write of how the mind creates reality. I understand that written intentions are a potent way of manifesting that reality.

This month's New Moon is in Capricorn, therefore, the qualities and areas of rulership in Capricorn's domain are ruled by Saturn. All things Saturnine should be captured in our intentions and given life through our words.

Invoke your maturity and responsible handling of life and all situations.

Develop awareness of how every action you have, every thought you think, every connection you make, has roots that grow into your future. Make righteous choices. Affirm that you are making righteous choices that are for the good of all, including yourSelf.

Saturn also rules structures - inner ones, such as bones, teeth, joints - as well as outer ones - such as buildings, garages, tents, houses. Set your intention for any of these structures to be on firm ground, or firmly healed if there is rheumatism or arthritis. These symptoms can be lessened using an affirmation of health in things ruled by Saturn, which also include skin, gall bladders, and knees.

You can intend to have a good reputation and recieve recognition for a job well done under this influence.

Saturn is also known for it's lack of joy and sternness; pessimism and inflexibility. Make wishes and affirmations that lift these attributes from your personality on this day.

Write down your affirmations, intentions, wishes on a piece of paper. And then put that paper out of sight. You don't need it anymore. I keep mine in a notebook, and only give a quick glance as I begin my new moon page each month.

This book offers a good understanding of how to apply the energy of the new moon to living a fulfilling life. Farmers and fishermen plant and harvest by the phases of the Moon, so, too, can we, as humans, use the phases for right living.

Happy New Moon today - January 8th, 2008.

Happy Winter's Solstice

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_2fDreU0sM1Y/R2vum3KwmKI/AAAAAAAAAVI/w9jsCFQA7FA/s400/Dec+23+2007.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5146469350612441250" />
Just a heads up about this planetary alignments significance. Some are saying this is the auspicious date that is heralded, and not the 2012 date that most everybody subscribes to. Read more about it here.

I am not a mundane astrologer. That is an astrologer who specializes in interpreting planetary significators for events, circumstances, and general atmospheres on a global level. My focus in astrology tends to be more personal. My main interest is in relationship astrology - harmonizing differences, utilizing the strengths that are evident in a chart comparison.

If you wish to find out more about how the transiting planets affect us as a whole, Jeff Jawer and Rick Levine have a great web-site for that. www.stariq.com You can also sign up to receive notices of transits by planets to your natal horoscope. They provide that service for free.

If nothing else comes of this line-up, this is a cool snapshot of the galaxy and what the line-up will look like on December 23rd, 2007. The Sun, Jupiter and Mercury will be in Capricorn, just this side of it; with Pluto just a couple of degrees away in Sagittarius - opposite Mars, and then the Moon too for a few hours. Moon and Mars together may be a bit volatile, especially being opposite Pluto.

That is the God of War in cahoots with our emotional heartstrings, being challenged by that forceful opposition. As the holidays draw near, it is best we detach as much as we are able and not take things personal even when the scenes playing out seem to be directed at us, personally.

Tap into your inner strength. Visit my web-site and order any of the reports. I offer them freely. Self awareness is empowering. Power versus force always.

Peace.

Pluto - the undeniable force for change.

Transits of Pluto to a planet in your chart brings change in the area of your existence that the planet being aspected represents. These are the times to do some soul-searching and raising of your consciousness to allow for positive changes in your life.

Because of Pluto’s slow-moving speed, when signs in your chart are aspected by it’s transit, you can expect about two years of strong, kind of obsessive activity in that area of life.

For instance, if Pluto is making an aspect to your Venus, you can expect something powerful happening in your love life, or the art that you produce, or something else that represents what you are attracted to and what you attract.

If Pluto is in aspect to one of your luminaries, one may find their identity(Sun) going through an overhaul, or their psychological processes (Moon) experiencing some intensely emotional transformations.

It depends on what the aspect is how that event is experienced. The easier ones will bring welcome change, while the harder angles will seem to be coming from external sources, and therefore not recognized as the events your higher self is bringing about. Resistance to change is where pain and frustration comes in.

Pluto transits are sometimes forceful, or considered so, because of attachments to things that no longer serve us. It’s no use trying to hold on to a dilapidated building, or a bunch of clothes that don’t fit anymore. The same goes for relationships that do us more harm than good.

In Feng Shui, these outworn items and structures, or relationships, or ways of thinking - are said to be cluttering up your Chi. You have to get rid of the old to make way for the new, which Pluto will assuredly do. He is in charge of regeneration, ultimately improving upon what was there and which needed some updating anyway.

At this time, Pluto is traveling with Jupiter in Sagittarius’ s constellation. The Sun is in Sagittarius, and Mercury is in Sagittarius too. That is a lot of energy concentrated on our beliefs and abilities to expand on them. If you are open to some creative change, this will attract to you the people and places and resources you need to make them happen. We are magnetic creatures. Our thoughts are the magnets that pull in what we need.

In the beginning was the word. Or, so they say. I think it is more appropriate to say, “in the beginning was the thought.”

Neptunian Blurs

Neptune blurs lines of distinction.

Because it takes 165 years for Neptune to completely orbit the earth - if there is a planet in your chart, read: an area of life that the planet signifies - you can be sure of confusion and fuzzy thinking where the planet being aspected is concerned, for about two years.

Some of the Sun signs that are experiencing much of the affects of Neptune in the constellation of the Water Bearer, are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius - all of the fixed signs of the zodiac.

If you have a planet, including the Sun and Moon, in any of these signs, that area of your life will undergo some confusion or idealization as the boundaries dissolve.

Neptune exerts dreamy energy into our consciousness. Among other things, Neptune rules film - which uses images and words to tell a story. The story is what provokes the feelings which make the impression upon the mind. Neptune is a great illusionist, and Life is the great illusion.

The feelings that Neptune invokes in us are that we are all ONE, coming from and returning to the same Source of all life. It's all an organic whole.

If Neptune is conjuncting a point in your Being - Sun/Moon/Venus/Mars/etc. - the boundaries disappear and the supra-consciousness has access to the area of life signified by the planet. And vice versa.

If Neptune is squaring any of your personal planets, there will be conflict which will demand you get a grip on the illusion, which is truly futile - so defeatist thoughts will persist. One might experience depressions or mental and physical fatigue when Neptune makes the square angle to the Sun, Mars, Saturn, or Mercury. A square to Venus will challenge how you view a loved one. Fantasies are not accurate about reality at Neptunian square times.

Neptune oppositions will require a strong routine for keeping structure in place. You can expect the bottom to fall out of whatever you are trying to hold onto in the areas of life being transited by Neptune being opposite it. There is a balance to be struck in oppositions. It can be debilitating and a dissipation of energy to resist the demands of a Neptune's opposition - which seem to be about withdrawing energy from some situation or person(s). Sometimes the troubles stem from feelings of low self esteem and guilt.

Neptune trines and sextiles are more pleasant, and easier on us mentally and physically - as opportunities and flows just materialize to enable us to create heaven on Earth. The more beautiful images that the supra-conscious mind is impressing upon us are inspired and inspiring.

The transits of Neptune to points within us are of a highly evolutionary nature. Answering the call, meditating on what we have and what we'd like to create, will greatly ease any insecurity you may feel as Neptune dissolves boundaries. It can be unsettling, to say the least, if you do not have some grounding practice in place when Neptune comes a-transiting. A structured routine such as yoga or meditation, in one of it's forms (I personally like walking meditations as well as the sitting still kind) will allow you space to hear and envision Neptune's Grace.

Neptune = vision grand, hard work. The Test of the self, within the self. We are now all the Apocalypse of the Self. This Uncovering is a paradigm shift for the ego. What we give power to, has power over us. The Real Being is taking back the power we have given to Illusion.

Namaste', Neptune.

Nod to Anne Beversdorf

In 2006, for six months, I hosted an internet radio program appropriately called "Jupiter's Girl". The station is Out of Time Radio and was #4 and growing in listenership each week. It was an exciting venture that brought me in close range to some leaders and pioneers of expansive thinking.

One of those leaders is Anne Beversdorf. Anne was one of my favorite guests because she was so knowledgable and articulate on the subject of Astrology. We discussed on air, and long after we got off, Vedic Astrology and the use of what the jyotish call "remedies" to cure what ails; mentally, physically and spiritually. She said she'd one day write a book about it.

Then, she did it. She wrote the book. I bought it. It is titled "Weekday Guide to Life Enhancement". The subtitle tells it all about the book, using planetary remedies.

Anne's writing style is very clear and easy to understand. Each chapter begins with beautiful artwork and a poem dedicated to the God, or planet, that it's about.

I am a Western Astrologer, not that adept at Vedic at all, but I gained new appreciation for this branch of astrology after speaking with Anne. She hit the nail on the head about what's been happening with me for years and offered some Saturnine advice that has alleviated the strain.

I am happy that she is going a non-traditional route by publishing her book the way she did, and for how it is constructed. You have to order it from her. Follow the link above, to her web-site, and then contact her directly.

I light a red candle today, and offer my gratitude to Anne for researching these remedies and so cabably imparting what she's learned in her book.

Full Moon in Gemini today

Full moons are known to be times when crazies get crazier. That's because the two luminaries are on opposite ends of the poles, creating a polarity in the way you feel and the way you think.

The conscious and unconscious forces are in a collision, and the only way to avoid an implosion is to strike a balance between the two.

If you take the Sun in Sagittarius - then you get Jupiter too. Jupiter rules Sagittarius and therefore the light that is shining on you (or within you, really), is colored with his magnetic qualities of love and tolerance, of higher learning, of wisdom and courage. Jupiter is a benevolent Being and bestows grace upon all. It's his turn to work with the creative force of the sun. It is a powerful time for expanding awareness.

Then, take the Moon - the other luminary. It is about to enter Gemini and be opposite the Sun any minute now, Sat. 11/24/07, around 7:42 am CDT. The Moon will be in Gemini, which is ruled by Mercury, for 2.5 days. Gemini is swift on the uptake and has insatiable curiosity. A Mercurial Moon will have us changing our minds without a moment's notice. The Moon, as well as Mercury, affects the Mind as it affects our emotions. They feed each other.

As for the opposition of these two mutable masters - it should not be so bad as to provoke lunacy, but one should remain flexible and loose in their translation of reality today. Don't be afraid to broaden your horizons. It will feel good to release outworn thoughts and ideas that limit your scope.

Let Jupiter and Mercury within you find the balance between rational thoughts and metaphysical beliefs.

I’m not finished with Mercury

Mercury’s placement in the natal chart represents one’s reasoning ability, one’s mind and the way a person expresses their Self.

I’ve been ruminating about this for years. If classes were made up of a particular element, what might that look like? How can breaking down classes by element be beneficial? Is it too one-sided and hard to synthesize with other elements if one gets used to only taking in light from it‘s own kind?

If I have the questions, I am sure the answers are here too. It takes all of the elements to create. So we come together, all of us, sharing our knowledge and talents to create, hopefully, a unified whole.

We all seem to desire similar things; love, housing, food, water, sunshine, good health, a prosperous life on all levels, beauty and music, etc. Bring your Earthy, or Airy, or Fiery, or Watery thinking into the act of creating with all of the other elements. Together we have the opportunity to build Utopia.

I have Mercury in Pisces. It is watery, sensitive to subtle nuances in communication, going into cracks and crevices of a story or lesson. I am accused of being attention deficit disordered. I am not sure of that, but I can see where one might get the impression. When I am feeling confident about who I am, I respond to those accusations that I have A.D.O., Attention in Divine Order.

Having studied what astrology says about what Mercury in Pisces might mean, I am understanding of the way MY mind works. If I didn’t know that, I might be tempted to medicate it. I still am, come to think of it. It’s not that bad, though. I accomplish a lot in a day.

I also have to consider transits to Mercury. Right now, Uranus, the liberator and freedom-loving planet is conjunct my Mercury, the lens, filter and amplifier of my mind‘s projections. There are so many implications of this transit that penning them is more difficult than living them. My thinking is even more diversified and dissected.

Mercury in Pisces, trine Neptune in my natal chart, and conjunct my Pisces ascendant gives me empathic qualities. I feel people’s feelings. My intuition is good. I fear messing with that by taking a drug that claims to help me focus. I don’t want to mess with my mind. Reality is already slippery. I create lists and routines to give me structure. I focus when I need to and on what I want to.

I digress. Mercury on my Ascendant in the first house means to me that it is appropriate for me to tell my stories. I hope they inspire you to learn about your own horoscopic stories.

The bigger picture:
Have a teacher whose Mercury placement is in the same or a compatible element (earth w/water and fire w/air) teach students with like Minds in their classes.

The basic subjects, English/Math/Science/History, could be taught with separations by element,. All other classes would be comprised of a mixture of the elements; social studies, criminology, family services, health, technology, and any other classes that could wind up creating life-giving products or services.

Lofty, I know. My watery Mercury could use some Earthy sense, some Fiery inspiration and Airy reasoning to flesh out this idealistic vision.

I really don’t see any kind of educational reforms like this happening in Louisiana any time in the near future. Maybe somebody in California will read this and run with it. We will surely follow any progress you make.

Mercury in the signs -

The planet, Mercury, in our natal charts, shows how we take in information. I have always associated information with light. We are beings of light and add to our light with awareness - which comes in the form of information.

How we express our light, is through Mercury. Our personality’s input and output is from the same department - within and without. Mercury shows how we think. How you think becomes how you do.

There’s that Buddhist reflection by Lama Surya Das that goes…
The thought manifests as the word;
The word manifests as the deed;
The deed develops into habit;
And habit hardens into character;
So watch the thought and its ways with care,
And let it spring from love
Born out of concern for all beings…

As the shadow follows the body,
As we think, so we become.
(from the Dhammapada)

What sign and house your Mercury is in tells me what you are interested in, what you might think about, or want to talk about, or how you think.

I believe the knowledge of Mercury placements could greatly benefit teachers when structuring their classes thereby maximizing students’ input and output from the learning process.

Earth sign Mercurys are more tactile in their information gathering, using senses and sensibilities. They need hands on experiments and a good reason why they are doing something. Is it practical and functional? Put Taurus in acquisitions, Virgo in the analysis dept, and Capricorn is the builder. These Mercury expressions need information pertaining to their Earth mode of expression. Earth signs are manifesting masters.

Water sign Mercurys are harder to pin down in learning; Cancer/Scorpio/Pisces. They take in information through feelings, as well as absorbing information being emitted by words, and body language. It is empathic energy - desiring to understand what makes other's tick. Like water, the attention needs a container. Put a story of someone you know in that dry science lesson and the information flows in.

Then, there’s Air sign Mercury people; Gemini/Libra/Aquarius. They are logic-minded and interested in relationships between ideas. They are very expressive of their information as they network and work towards harmonizing and making sense; connecting people and ideas with their networking and socializing skills. They are information gatherers in the broadest sense of the word for humans. Air Mercury people are very good at bringing about cooperation between seemingly disparate parties.

And lastly, there’s the fire sign Mercury, Aries/Leo/Sagittarius, which are enthusiastic learners. The subjects that might provoke their interest will arouse their passions too. They are the most apt to take a risk in experimenting with ideas. Dramatic presentations will grab hold of their attention and teach them like no rote reading could do.

A motivated teacher could easily find out Mercury placements by having a chart for it’s course during the year(s) of her students' births.

Or, even better, identify a teacher's Mercury, and then put the students with the same Mercury placements, by elements fire/earth/air/water, in with them.

Going along with a person’s nature is a lot easier than giving the kid a label like A.D.D., and/or a pill in which to keep the child in their desk. Appreciation for how one thinks and what one thinks about may lessen the need to conform to one standard.

The education system has come a long way in offering something for everybody. I'm just saying that when it comes to designing some educational reforms, Astrology and what it has to say on the subject ought to take part at that discussion table.

I have Jupiter in Sadge. Aha!! That's why...

I have a book suggestion:
The following excerpt was culled from Stephen Arroyo's "Exploring Jupiter: The Astrological Key to Progress, Prosperity & Potential" (Drawing on the Source of Self-Confidence & Successful Risk-Taking to Achieve Your Personal Goals)

"The Jupiter Sign As A Mode of Learning

Educator David Hamblin, M.A. has published some extremely interesting and original findings in The Astrological Journal, published by the British Astrological Association in Summer, 1978 and Summer, 1981. He kept track of the Jupiter signs of students in various classes that he led, which was quite easy because they tended to bunch into one or two signs each year, since Jupiter stays in one sign for about one year. Each Jupiter sign group, he concluded, responded to a learning exercise in the manner of its Jupiter sign, and "seemed to behave in the classroom in the manner of their dominant Jupiter sign." He points out that these findings have important implications for teachers, enabling them to predict in advance the bahavior of particular groups, and thus, to design their teaching plans accordingly.

Although he had not finished evaluating all Jupiter's signs when he published his first two articles, the following quoted excerpts from his articles give a clear idea of what he discovered and enables astrologers further to determine with confidence specific characteristics of people with certain Jupiter placements.

The Jupiter-in-Gemini group responded to it very well, with very free and lively discussion and exploration of ideas; the Jupiter-in-Cancer group responded poorly because they preferred a more authoritarian style of teaching which would have given them more protection and less exposure; and the Jupiter-in-Leo group responded well, but in a much more flamboyant and "theatrical" style than the other two groups.

The Jupiter-in-Libra group coped only moderately well with the exercise. What was very noticeable, however, was that they were much less interested in the content of the exercise than in their own interpersonal relationships within the group. Their aim was to achieve group harmony for its own sake (rather than for the sake of improving their performances at the task, which did not greatly interest them).

The Jupiter-in-Scorpio group did better than predicted. Most of this class applied themselves to the task with a great deal of determination and enthusiasm. There were, however, two sub-groups which went through the task in an extremely somnolent state, displaying neither commitment nor hostility but only apathy. Thus the tendency of Scorpio to veer between extreme involvement and extreme apathy was confirmed.

The Jupiter-in-Sagittarius group did less well than predicted. They were an extremely effervescent and "bubbly" group, and their poblem with the exercise was that it did not sufficiently tie them down. They were always going off at irrelevant tangents or "goofing around", and the problem of absenteeism was greater than with any other group. However, their inter-group presentations were riotously funny, and were better than those of any other group except Jupiter-in-Leo.

I have had some experience with a mixture of Jupiter-in-Capricorn and in-Aquarius, but they seem, in fact, to show mainly Capricornian characteristics. They work hard, and their written work is mostly very good; also, they seem to enjoy discussion (perhaps because of the Aquarian element), but their attitude to work is extremely instrumental, showing an obsession with marks and grades, and they have caused more trouble to the lecturers with seemingly petty complaints about the "system" than any other group since Jupiter-in-Virgo.

Quotes from Jupiter in the Classroom."

[note from JG: I wonder what Mr. Hamblin would say about Pisces or Aries Jupiters. I would be interested to know. The above piece broadened my understanding of the learning process and seemed true to me. Previously, my theory of learning was to place students together and give them appropriate outlets for what they learn by their natal Mercury placement. The Mercury sign's element, Earth, Air, Fire or Water, would determne how one takes in and expresses information. I don't know how to apply that information, nor that I am the one to campaign for that reform. I have 4 sisters who are educators; they like their system the way it is.]

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://astrologyreadingsonline.blogspot.com/2007/11/culled-from-stephen-arroyos-book.html' title='I have Jupiter in Sadge.
